Monologue Preparation

Preparing a Monologue 1. Understanding character - who? how old? personality?  etc. - Scarlett, 9 year old girl -confident 2. Situation - where? when? why? who are you talking to? - Sitting on her bed in her room at night - Getting ready to go to bed - Talking to audience 3. Language : meaning (what you are trying to say - 1 sentence) - explain my sister's "irrational" fear of monsters hiding in her room at night 4. emotion / flow / build - Confident until she's becomes scared (maybe paranoid) 5. Body language & blocking - movements - Sitting slouched on the edge of bed, legs dangling - Slides to other end of the bed quickly out of fright on "Dad!"

5 Words That Describe My Life Variety - Between extracurricular activities, school, and my social life, I have always been exposed to a variety of things. Throughout my entire life, my parents put me in sports and activities including dance (mainly ballet), some character dance and modern dance, tennis, squash, harp, piano, guitar, musical theatre, even religion class with friends, and more. Every school that I have attended has given me the opportunity to try new things and to continue and pursue my interests and hobbies. At school I have contributed to plays, choir, volleyball, swim team, various kinds of courses and electives, and more. Even when the sports I play are out of season or I am stopping an activity temporarily, I find a way to practice and continue them in some way in the future.
